In December 2013, veteran attorney Stan Stallworth was falsely accused of sexual assault. Two long years later, Stallworth and his co-defender were acquitted; but not before suffering medical issues due to stress and losing his position as a partner at the prominent Sidley Austin law firm.
Finally vindicated, Stallworth committed to speaking out on racial injustices, and preventing other Black and brown defendants from enduring what he had.
An avid painter and collector, Stallworth has curated American Justice: She Ain’t Blind, an exhibit that explores racialized American justice. Over 35 artists from around the world are featured.
This mixed-media presentation is running through September 1, 2017 at Steele Elliott Design NPF, 2635 S. Wabash, 3rd Floor.
