If you love art, you should check out Harlem Renaissance: Rising Up- A Visual Arts Exhibit at the Beverly Arts Center. Rising Up features local artists whose work “celebrates black culture, pride, race relations, and historic and current social issues.” This exhibit features themes of both the Harlem Renaissance and the Great Migration.
The Harlem Renaissance was a time of profound artistic expression and skill; and the featured artists are truly masterful in their works. Standout artists Joyce Owens and Gerald Griffin contribute pieces that are in a word: stunning.
Harlem Renaissance: Rising Up is part of the Harlem Renaissance Celebration- a series of performing arts, music and film events through February 2017. More events will take place in Hyde Park.
Harlem Renaissance: Rising Up- A Visual Arts Exhibit at the Beverly Arts Center in the Jack Simmerling Gallery runs through February 19. For more information visit www.beverlyartscenter.org, or www.harleminhydepark.com.
